Early 14th Century Heraldic Stud Depicting the Arms of England
This is a large copper alloy heraldic stud depicting the Arms of England dating from before 1340. The three lions of England have lost their gold enamelling, but 60% of the red enamel background still remains. This stud is very impressive in both its size and clarity of detail. It also retains its full-size fixing prong.
The heraldic stud was discovered in Oxfordshire and measures 30 mm in length and 25 mm in width. The fixing prong measures 100 mm.
The stud is in very good condition.
