13th/14th Century Shield-Shaped Heraldic Horse Harness Stud

A 13th/14th-century bronze shield-shaped heraldic stud depicting a lion rampant. The definition of the lion rampant is very clear, and a little of the blue enamelled background remains, whilst the lion itself shows a faint red colourisation.

The mount still retains its securing prong at the back, which measures approximately 20 mm in length. The mount itself measures 28 mm in length and 24 mm in width, and is in very good condition.
