Description
British War and Victory Pair to 47670 Pte. W. Finch of the Welsh Regiment W.I.A. Passchendaele
Mint condition
Walter Finch enlisted into the Welsh Regiment and was placed in the 2/9th Battalion. The Regiment was placed in the 58th Brigade of the 19th (Western) Division and was to see action on the Somme in the Battle of Mametz Wood on 7th July 1916 and the Battle of the Ancre, 14th November 1916. Pte. Finch later saw action at Passchendaele in 1917, where he suffered a severe gunshot wound in his neck on 9th November 1917. On 12th November, he was transported by No. 36 ambulance train for treatment onto the Hospital Ship, where he spent seven days being treated.
Pte. Walter Finch was placed on the Silver War Badge list whilst attached to the R.A.O.C. after he had recovered from his wound.
The medals come with their original named box of issue and are sold with a copy of the MIC.
