WWI British War and Victory Pair to 43081 Pte. R.A. Piggin of the Durham Light Infantry K.I.A. 20/04/1917 SOLD

Reginald Arthur Piggin joined the Durham Light Infantry in 1916 and was placed in the 14th (Service) Battalion. In 1917, the 14th Battalion joined the 6th Division and spent January and February in the trenches of Ypres. In April 1917, the Durham Light Infantry took part in attacks along the Lines at Arras. During these engagements, the 14th Battalion was fighting in the coalfields of Lens at “Hill 70”, which became a named Battle Honour for the D.L.I. It was during the Battle for Hill 70 that Reginald Arthur Piggn, now Lance Corporal, lost his life on 20th April 1917.
Lance Cpl. R. A. Piggin is remembered with Honour on the Loos Memorial and the medal pair is sold with copies of the C.W.G.C. certificate and M.I.C.
