13th Century Vesica Seal Matrix Depicting an Eagle

This 13th-century bronze vesica seal has a central motif of a standing eagle with its wings partially extended. The eagle is quite deeply cut and the seal has the personal owner’s name engraved in Lombardic capitals around its edge. The seal has a smooth brown patina on the obverse, whilst the reverse still retains its suspension loop.

Overall the seal is in very good condition. It was discovered in Oxfordshire during the 1960’s.

The seal measures 30 mm in length and 20 mm in width.
