WWI War and Victory Pair to Sergt. A. E. Walker of the Northumberland Fusiliers K.I.A. 06/06/1918

Albert Edward Walker was born in Warrington and resided in Warley, Essex. He enlisted into the 1st Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers and received the service number 65493. As part of the 9th Brigade, 28th (Northumbrian) Division, the Northumberland Fusiliers saw action on the Somme in 1916.

In 1917, Arthur Walker quickly gained promotion and became a sergeant. He was to be involved in the Battle of Arras in April/May and the Battle of Ypres in September 1917. However, on 06/06/2017, Sergeant Walker was killed in action during the preparation for the Battle of Albert with “Z” company aged 23 years. Sergt. Arthur Walker is buried in the Sandpits British Cemetery, Fouquereul.

The medal pair is sold with copies of the C.W.G.C. and Soldiers Died in the Great War sheets.
