Description
This mid-14th century horse harness stud is quatrefoil in shape and retains its fixing prong on the reverse. The stud depicts a crown set against a red enamel background. The crown would have been gold, but this enamel has been lost. However, the background still retains about 50% of its red enamel.
The heraldic stud measures 25 mm in length and 25 mm in width and is a good example of a well-preserved medieval horse harness stud.
