WWI War and Victory Pair to 281789 Pte. G. Gypp of the Highland Light Infantry SOLD

George Gypp was born in Stocton on Tees in County Durham and resided at Witton Park in the same county. He enlisted at Bishop Auckland into the Highland Light Infantry in early 1916 and was placed in the 18th Battalion. The 18th H.L.I. landed in France as part of the 106th (Bantem) Brigade in the 35th Division, February 1916.
Pte. G. Gypp first saw action on the Somme on 20th August 1916 when the 18th Battalion attacked Arrowpoint Copse. He was transferred to the 10/11th BAttalion H.L.I. in 1917 and was Killed in Action aged 28 on the 27th August, 1917 in the aftermath of the Battle of Langemark.
Pte. George Gypp is interred in the Tyne Cot Cemetery. The medal pair is sold with copies of C.W.C.G. details sheet, M.I.C. and medal roll for the 10/11th Battalion, H.L.I.
