2nd Century Roman Redware Circular Oil Lamp With Running Bear SOLD
The scene of a very detailed running bear is depicted within two concentric rings in the bowl of this 2nd century Roman redware lamp. The underneath of the lamp has the clearly impressed maker's mark, which reads IVNIALEXI.
The Roman lamp is in very fine complete condition, with no damage and the detail of the bear is particularly impressive. It measures 100 mm in length, 70 mm in width and 48 mm in height including the handle.
