Early 13th Century Romanesque Gilded Bronze Buckle Plate
This is a delicately made early 13th century Romanesque openwork gilt bronze buckle plate with attached loop. A raised lion passant is depicted in relief on the buckle plate, which still retains approximately 75% of its original gilding. The buckle plate has three fixing studs attaching the surviving back plate and the loop is D-shaped. The buckle's securing tongue is also intact.
The buckle plate is a quality item in very good complete condition. It measures 4.5 cm in length and 2cm at its widest point.
