Wehrpass to Karl Bartoschitz Corporal Mountain Troops K.I.A.
This Wehrpass to Karl Bartoschitz a Corporal in the Mountain Troops is dated 08/12/1938.
Corp. Karl Bartoschitz was a volunteer serving from October 1940 until August 1941 with Geb.Jag.Rgt.91 of the 4.Geb.Div., based in Germany (Heuberg).
In April 1941, he served in Bulgaria and from May to June 1941 was active in Yugoslavia, then transferred to Russia (Winniza, Uman, Dnjepr).
On the 04/08/1941 he was seriously injured by a bullet and after recovery rejoined the Geb.Jag.Rgt.91 in Sept. 1942.
Bartoschitz was then active in Russia (Rostow, Caucasus). He was killed in action (05/10/1942) during the heavy fighting at Novorossiysk, where the Germans contained the Russian amphibious landings on the Kuban.
Corp. Karl Bartoschitz was entitled to the Iron Cross 2nd Class, the Infantry Assault Badge in Silver and the Wound Badge in Black.
This is a very desirable item, as any documents to Mountain Troops are scarce and much in demand. In addition the Geb.Jag.Rgt.91 is considered to be an elite unit in Germany.
