WWII German Third Reich Period Military Album
The album is a creamy beige colour and is made from a linen effect material on cardboard. On the upper left of the front is an embossed blackened Eagle and Swastika, whilst on the lower right are the embossed words "Aus Meiner Dienstzeit".
The album contains 196 original photographs, mostly of a military nature. The album begins with a large photograph (23 cm. by 17 cm.) depicting numerous officers and other ranks of a German regiment, all wearing parade uniform. Following this are photographs of military manoeuvres including many shots of troops wearing steel helmets and carrying rifles. Other photographs show vehicles, a motor cycle rider and a mobile soup kitchen. These lead onto shots of the uniformed owner of the album with his family.
Next are photographs of this particular soldier's period during the 1940 campaign in France, which include French prisoners, German soldiers' graves, destroyed French villages and knocked out French tanks. Other photos show snap shots of the soldier's stay in occupied France, including German troops by the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and the Grave of the Unknown French Soldier 1914-1918.
The owner of the album, then appears to go on a skiing course, possibly before joining a mountain unit. The photographs show troops skiing and the Gebirgsjager course leader.
This is an outstanding album, in excellent condition with a particularly interesting military content. It measures 27 cm. in length and 19 cm. wide.
