Leo Walaschewski served in March 1943 with Pol. Btl. 311 of SS-Pol. Rgt. 6. From July 42-Jan.43, his battalion was attached to the Army Security unit 444.Sich.Div. and was active in Southern Russia, carrying out "anti-partisan" operations. In Jan.43 SS-Pol.Rgt.6 was destroyed and the remnant withdrawn to Germany (Adlershof). Walaschewski was then transferred in June 43 to central-northern Norway, before the unit was transferred in June 43 to central-Russia (Baranowitschi) where at the time many actions against the Jews and partisans took place. The Rgt. took part in operations "Werwolf 1" and in June/July 43 "Werwolf 2" and from 16-20 August 43 the unit was at Bialystok.
In Sept. 43 the unit was operating in the Carpathian Mountains and in Oct. 43 transferred to Kiev. In July 44 the Rgt. was destroyed and not formed again. Surviving personnel mostly returned to their regular Police units in Germany.
