This 9th Century bronze Saxon strap end is leaf-shaped and fairly long, measuring 50 mm in length and 15 mm in width.
The central decoration comprises of a quadruped animal with interwoven ribbon design. This is framed with a border of raised beading within two incised lines. The animal head terminal is well defined all the way to the snout. The upper side of the fixing point has been lost, but the lower portion is still attached well to the fixing holes.
The strap end was found in Hampshire.
