This bronze 14th century heraldic horse harness stud is lozenge-shaped. There is a central lozenge within the stud, which is decorated with a heraldic style motif. This design is divided down its centre and consists of three incised chevrons to the left and a cross on the right. The outer section of the stud has a floral style design running round the central motif and at both the top and bottom there is a diamond shape. Most of the stud's enamelling has been lost, but traces can still be seen on the border and the back of the stud. The incised design is also sharp.
This is a very unusual heraldic style stud in good condition with a smooth patina. It lacks most of its enamelling, but has a sharp design.
The stud measures 30mm in length by 25 mm in width and the attachment pin measures 12 mm. The stud was discovered in Gloucestershire.
