As a volunteer, Georg Grasser initially joined 4 Batterie Leichte Flakabtellung 75 in Munich, October 1938. Following this, he transferred to 4 Batterie Reserve Flakabtellung 151 Augsburg on 27.08.1939.
He first saw active service during the German invasion of France in 1940 with 5/Flak.Abt.25, which was a motorised light Flak unit operating against low flying British and Allied fighters.
In May 1942 Grasser joined Luft. Infantry Regiment 15 in the East, but was wounded and returned to hospital in Germany. He therefore missed the Russian total destruction of this hastily formed and ill-trained Luftwaffe unit, in 1943.
On recovery, Georg Grasser joined 1/Ln.Abt.350 in November 1944.
In the latter stages of the war, Grasser (now a Feldwebel) was trained in the use of the Panzerfaust anti-tank weapon (see P20) and defended his homeland against the advancing Russians in April 1945, whilst attached to 6/L.Nachr.Rgt.7.
The Wehrpass is in very good condition.
