Egypt Medal Suakin 1885 to 8933 Pte. F.W. Lewis of the 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards SOLD
Pte. Frederick W. Lewis together with the 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards took part in the Sudanese campaign of 1885. Under Lieutenant-General, Sir Gerald Graham, the 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards fought against the Dervishes at the Battle of Hasin on 20th March, 1885. They were part of the Guard's square, that was ferociously attacked by 3000 spearmen and riflemen, but the square held and the Dervishes were decisively defeated.
This is a good quality medal with no pitting whatsoever. It is sold with a copy of the medal roll showing 8933 Pte. F. W. Lewis as being entitled to the Egypt medal with Suakin 1885 clasp.
